Today is Saturday 7, 2012. Guess what day is it ?? Yes ! Today is Brian Elwin Haner Jr or probably you know him better as Synyster Gates' birtdhday. Yeah, he turn to 31 years old today.

Brian was born in Huntington Beach, California, United States, July 7, 1981. He is the first child. He has two brothers named Brent and Johnny, and a sister, McKenna. His father Brian Elwin Haner Sr (used to be called papa gates), is a comedian, song writer, and a professional guitarist. His biological mother is Jan. His step mother is Suzy Haner, a hypnotist
Brian got his first guitar from his grandparents. One of the first songs that he learned is "Stairway To Heaven" by Led Zeppelin. When he was in grade 6, he was able to guess the chords of a song just by using his hearing. After Brian was given a guitar, he said that school is no use anymore. The good mark just he got until he was in grade 4.
Brian is a musician and a guitarist for a band, Avenged Sevenfold. Brian went to Mayfair High School in Lakewood, but he has moved to and graduated at Huntington Beach High School in Huntington Beach, California
He studied at Musicians Institute in Hollywood as a part of Guitar Institute of Technology Program, learned jazz and classic guitar. His father existence, guitarist of Frank Zappa Band also pushed him for total playing music. After a year or more there, he got a phone call from The Rev and asked if he wants to join with his band, as a guitarist. Rather than continue his education and became a studio musician, he choose to join to Avenged Sevenfold when he was 18 in the end of 1999. His desire to play guitar inspired
by the play and tone improvisation played by the jazz musicians, it
makes him interested to learned guitar by a self-taught especially by watching music videos and reading books.
Brian directly full involved as a Lead Guitarist for A7X's first album, "Sounding The Seventh Trumpet". In A7X's EP, Brian also played piano on "Warmness on the Soul" and also "The Beast and the Harlot" and "Sidewinder" tracks, and backing vocal on almost all the song with the other band personnel. Beside Syn, the A7X's first bassist who quit from the band due overdose, Justin Meacham also played a few part for keyboard, piano, and synthesizer.
As commonly a musician moreover a guitarist, Brian has a few person who could be considered as major influence for him. His innovative character be affected by his admiration for Django Reinhardt, a distinguished musician and guitarist of Europe. For the business of harmonization, Brian very influence with a classic guitarist, Adam Aparicio. In performer, involve fashion, guitar models, and the stage actions, Syn influence by Slash (eks-GNR, Velvet Revolver), the deceased Dimebag Darrell (Panthera, DamagePlan), and John Petrucci (Dream Theater).
Just like Petrucci, Syn was ordained as Young Shredder by Metal Hammer Magazine in 2006. When Guitar World interviewed him on June edition 2008 ago, they asked him, wants to be as good as who as a rock guitarist, and he answered: "It's definitely I want to be as good as Slash ! Or like Ozzy Osbourne, Alexi Laiho Children of Bodom, Jimmy Hendrix, Dimebag Darrell, and also Jimmy Page.
Syn also had side band, with The Rev, they played in a avaunt-grade metal band named Pinkly Smooth. Formed on summer 2001 in Huntington Beach, California. This band displayed eks of Ballistico Buck Silverspur member, who had most of the sound crossover, ska punk, and avaunt-grade. There is speculation that Pinkly Smooth will produce another note, but because of the death of The Rev, it's very impossible that they will make another album. But, Synyster Gates has said that he will consider to remastering the songs Unfortunate Sort and come back to released an album.
Synyster Gates also has won a few awards. Metal Hammer "Young Shredder" and Total Guitar Magazine "Guitarist of the Year" in 2006.
In Revolver magazine, the special edition of Avenged Sevenfold released on the same day as launching of Nightmare album, Gates said that at first he start to writes "So Far Away" track is to respect his grandfather, but now to respect his band mate, the diseased The Rev too. (I'm listening to this song while wrote this :'( ).
On April 20, 2011 Gates has won the appearances of Revolver Golden Gods as the Best Guitarist with his band mate, Zacky Vengeance. Avenged Sevenfold also take the other appearances.
